Cinema Cities Network
The Film Cities network is an initiative led by the City Councils of Santiago, San Sebastian and Salamanca, born in the framework of the designation of the latter as “European City of Culture of the Year 2000”. The project encompasses the cities of Venice, Thessalonica, Porto, Salamanca, Donostia-San Sebastian and Santiago de Compostela. It is aimed at organising inter-municipal cooperation in order to promote these cities' own culture and identity by means of their audiovisual production. The idea is to develop common instruments that help the industry to reduce costs, while also facilitating the cities' competitive presence within the international market as important production centres.
Cinema Cities plays the same role as a Film Commission with the exception of its structure, since it encompasses different offices located in the cities participating in the project.

ACALPA
In Castile and León, a group of producers thought that the moment had arrived to make the voice of the sector heard. For this reason, the Castellano Leonesa Audiovisual Producers Association (ACALPA) was created in September 1999. ACALPA was founded with a great goal: to make Castile and León an immense film set. And to get it on its feet it created an innovative last generation tool: the Virtual Film iCommission of Castile and León. Also, ACALPA publishes the informative bulletin "Castilla y León Plató", it has published the "Guía del sector audiovisual en Castilla y León", it is working together with the ADE (Agency for Economic Development) on the study of the necessities of the sector and it promotes different activities (collective insurance, legal advice, defense of the intellectual property of the producers, etc.).
In order not to miss the train of audiovisuals - which is a "high speed" train -, it was thought that the Film Commission should be an innovative tool, based on new technologies, capable of being quickly set up and with continual up-dating and up-grading of its contents. Contrary to other agencies of film commissions services that have physical offices, similar to a tourism office, the Film Commission of Castile and León is a virtual tool, developed specifically for the Internet.
