Cinema Cities Network
The Film Cities network is an initiative led by the City Councils of Santiago, San Sebastian and Salamanca, born in the framework of the designation of the latter as “European City of Culture of the Year 2000”. The project encompasses the cities of Venice, Thessalonica, Porto, Salamanca, Donostia-San Sebastian and Santiago de Compostela. It is aimed at organising inter-municipal cooperation in order to promote these cities’ own culture and identity by means of their audiovisual production. The idea is to develop common instruments that help the industry to reduce costs, while also facilitating the cities’ competitive presence within the international market as important production centres.
Cinema Cities plays the same role as a Film Commission with the exception of its structure, since it encompasses different offices located in the cities participating in the project.
